Description
The electronic waste laboratory is one of the central laboratories at ERI. This laboratory offers specialized training courses in the field of electronic waste recycling, electronic waste management, electronic waste sources and how to safely deal with that waste, presenting the laws and policies regulating electronic waste, disassembling and testing electronic components in computers, performing maintenance on computers and laptops. This is in addition to the service of soldering and de-soldering the electronic components (e.g. surface mounted ICs) in the electronic board. The lab also provides important data and detailed studies to decision makers on the volume of electronic waste, the advantages of recycling, the importance of safe handling of electronic waste, its direct returns on the Egyptian economy, and the danger of ignoring the current situation in the way of dealing with electronic waste.
The laboratory contains: a training hall inside the electronic waste processing laboratory, in which lectures are given on training on electronic waste management, recycling electronic waste, obtaining well-functioning computers from used or used computers, and performing maintenance on computers and laptops.
In the laboratory, electronic waste is separated from computers to obtain precious metals from these wastes, such as metal, copper, and gold, as well as removing a group of electronic components from old and consumable boards in order to be installed in a board in which damage to the electronic components was discovered, and they are replaced with electronic components that were obtained. It is made of used and old boards.
