Description
the vision of the lab Since the advent of cloud computing technologies, the Electronics Research Institute has taken the initiative to study and evaluate these technologies scientifically and experimentally. Building on the extensive experience gained by the lab team from the previously launched Center of Excellence project in 2013, which included academic studies on various cloud computing technologies such as cluster computing, grid computing, supercomputing, etc. In 2018, a third-layer information center infrastructure was established at the institute's headquarters in Nozha. This led to the creation of the central cloud computing lab, providing an environment for developing, testing, operating applications, and analyzing their performance efficiently and swiftly. This serves the priorities of digital transformation in academic, governmental, and commercial sectors, where effective hardware and software infrastructure may not always be available with the required quality and capabilities.
the mission of the lab accelerate the performance of various scientific applications to multiple times the computational speed of a regular computer, saving time and energy used to operate the devices.
Store and process data generated by applications, necessitating the use of specialized computing for high-efficiency storage and processing.
Create and manage virtual computers, allowing users to utilize resources with high efficiency, privacy, and shared exploitation of available resources.
Operate software under containers, enabling the creation of an isolated and tailored runtime environment according to user needs.
Study services provided over the internet cloud, including PAAS platforms or SAAS software.
