Signing a cooperation protocol with the Information and Communications Technology Chamber

Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, stressed the importance of linking scientific research, industry and community development, and supporting the technological and innovative capabilities of the Egyptian science, technology and innovation system, noting the importance of benefiting from applied scientific research to support and develop Egyptian industry, and develop it in a way that benefits the national economy and society as a whole. In this context, the Electronics Research Institute signed a cooperation protocol with the Chamber of Information and Communications Technology Industry, and the protocol was signed by Dr. Sherine Abdel Qader Muharram, President of the Institute, and Dr. Mustafa Saleh, Vice President of the Chamber, on behalf of Engineer Khaled Ibrahim, Chairman of the Chamber’s Board of Directors. The protocol aims to cooperate between the two parties in the field of technological incubators, startup companies, and business accelerators, to support entrepreneurs and startup companies affiliated with the Chamber and to make available the capabilities and laboratories available at the institute in measurements and testing operations, as well as cooperation in specialized training programs for entrepreneurs and startup companies, in addition to cooperation in projects. According to the protocol, the Chamber of Information and Communications Technology Industry acts as a link between the institute, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Federation of Egyptian Industries, the various industrial chambers and the companies affiliated with the Ministry in the various governorates. To work on integrating joint activities, as well as participating in the activities of the TICO technology transfer and marketing offices at the institute, as well as participating in providing digital marketing for various projects and initiatives.
Dr. Sherine Abdel Qader said that the signing of the cooperation protocol with the Chamber of Information and Communications Technology Industry came within the framework of the importance of supporting Egyptian industries and digital transformation in Egypt, and the use of technology and innovation in developing Egyptian industries, and creating a stimulating environment to support and develop the entrepreneurship system and project development in the field of the information and communications technology industry, and the use of Technological applications to link scientific research with industry, adding that the institute is an expert house capable of providing advice to various sectors of industry and production, as well as carrying out applied semi-industrial projects in the field of electronics, information and communications technology in the stages that precede the process of implementing major projects, in addition to cooperating with various bodies in The field of incubating innovators and geniuses through the technological incubators program and providing them with financial and technical support.

Sherine refers to the “Science and Technology City for Electronics Research and Manufacturing” affiliated with the Institute, which aims to establish technological incubator areas and companies that work to promote innovation, develop technology, transfer it, and market it in cooperation between local and international stakeholders, in order to support the knowledge-based economy and access to locally made products. Pointing out that the city contributes to placing Egypt on the global map of electronics, communications and digital technology services, becoming a giant edifice that transports this industry with an advanced civilizational shift. To place Egypt among the major countries in the electronics industry and its applications.The head of the Electronics Research Institute explained the institute’s interest in the field of activating entrepreneurship, technology transfer and marketing offices, technological incubators, and entrepreneurship projects, which in turn lead to spreading the culture of technological creativity, nurturing talented people, and supporting the transformation of ideas into commercially applicable products in the field of electronics, information and communications technology. She stressed the Institute’s keenness to pay attention to entrepreneurship programs and support innovators and creators from all segments of society.
For his part, Eng. Khaled Ibrahim pointed out that the Chamber was established in 1999, and plays a pivotal role in developing and growing the interests of various entities working in the field of information technology in a way that ensures permanent growth and progress for Egyptian companies working in the field, as well as working to introduce new and technologically advanced companies to the Egyptian market. It can develop businesses locally and internationally, adding that the Chamber also plays a developmental role that achieves balance between the various industry parties, in line with the vision of the political leadership towards consolidating digital transformation, enhancing Egypt’s position on the global map of the ICT industry, and unifying efforts between the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and the Ministry of Communications.
