Central specialized laboratory for the fabrication and measurements of electromagnetic RF circuits with high accuracy the frequency range 10 MHz to 110GHz. The laboratory aims to achieve points of excellence in conducting measurements unavailable in other places in Egypt and to apply advanced and accurate measurement methods. The laboratory also offers many training courses that serve students in engineering colleges and institutes, as well as master’s and doctoral students, and provides integrated research services to researchers in the fields of the laboratory’s specialization, starting from design and electromagnetic simulation all the way to manufacturing and precise measurement. The laboratory also provides the service of conducting electromagnetic loss measurements of mobile station antennas due to camouflage covers and surrounding objects, and providing scientific consultations proposed to improve performance for companies that manufacture these covers.
The laboratory also has a probe station device for measuring system-on-chip integrated system circuits designed on electronic chips. Attached to the station, a set of sensors to measure and evaluate the performance of circuits with high accuracy. The laboratory has a specialized anechoic chamber for measuring the radiation pattern of antennas and measure key performance parameters such as polarization, gain, and efficiency. Attached to the laboratory a room dedicated to the fabrication of millimeter wave circuits, which contains a fabrication machine that operates with advanced laser technology that allows the fabrication with an accuracy of up to 50 micrometers for the metal track and 20 micrometers for the clearance between tracks. The machine can also fabricate on various insulating substrates such as Rogers, FR4, and other materials, for fabricating millimeter-wave circuits or electromagnetic wave circuits in general.
